The DEP is a voluntary partnership between the Tasmanian Government, local councils and industry. The Tasmanian Premier, CEOs and Mayors of the DEP partner organisations signed a five-year Partnership Agreement to implement the Environmental Management Plan in order to restore and promote the Derwent Estuary. Our major sponsors include: Brighton, Clarence, Derwent Valley, Glenorchy, Hobart and Kingborough councils, the Tasmanian State Government, TasWater, Tasmanian Ports Corporation, Norske Skog Boyer, Hydro Tasmania and Nyrstar Hobart smelter, Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies, NRM South and EPA Tasmania. We also work collaboratively on projects with the CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research, University of Tasmania and community groups.
