The 2024–25 summer Beach Watch season is now open

In early December the Beach Watch water quality monitoring program was launched again in time for summer. Our interactive map shows long-term, weekly and daily information about the water quality at Hobart’s beaches and bays. The daily updates for each swimming site are coordinated by DEP and a collaborative monitoring program between councils and state government.
Health advice recommends avoiding swimming in the Derwent Estuary for two days after heavy rain (>10 mm of rain over a 24 hour period).
